Snowboard Level 3

The requirements for all levels of certification are based on the Snowboard Teaching System (STS) and are found in the latest version of the AASI National Standards. The Level 3 certification process in AASI-NI involves the following criteria:
– You must be a current certified Snowboard Level 2 member of AASI-NI or other division. If you are a member of another division, you must seek permission from your home division before participating in the event.
– You must be employed by a ski/snowboard school within the geographic boundaries of Northern Intermountain, unless you are not a member of NI and you are taking the exam as a member of another division.
– You must have instructed snowboarding for a minimum of two full seasons (200 hours) at a ski/snowboard school.
– Complete and pass the online Level 3 Written Test with a minimum score of 80% before your first exam date.
– Attend and participate in the two mandatory Level 3 Prep Clinics: Teaching/Technical Prep and Riding Prep.
– It is recommended, but not required, that you attend at least one 300 level Riding clinic and one 300 level Teaching/Technical or Movement Analysis clinic.
– Pass each module of the Level 3 exam; riding will be evaluated in one module, and teaching/technical skills will be evaluated in the other.

Snowboard Level 3 Exam
– Level 3 candidates are evaluated in three categories: teaching ability, technical knowledge and riding ability. Candidates must pass each module with a score of 80% or higher to achieve Level 2 certifications. If a candidate passes one module and not the other, they may retake the missed module again as many times as necessary.
– Participants should be familiar and comfortable with the possible teaching tasks for Level 3.

Level 3 candidates will be assessed and scored based on the latest version of the AASI National Standards.
